About us

U Goenka Sons Private Limited was Established in 1991. 

U Goenka Sons Pvt. Ltd. is regularly importing for more than two decade, various agro-commodities like pulses and beans from different countries like Australia, Ethiopia, South Africa, Tanzania, Burma, China, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia etc.

Promoter’s History

The promoters belong to Goenka Family originally from Rajasthan India but migrated to Burma (Myanmar) during 1877. After World War II, the third generation of the Goenka family moved to Yangon. The visionary leadership of U S. N. Goenka helped found may of the companies of the group, which established a name for itself as the Bandoola Group.

Business thrived and the group grew many times over, diversifying into international trade, indenting real estate construction, agriculture and farming mining manufacture of blankets and textiles, industrial and edible grade rice bran oil, PVC sheeting, leather cloth, flooring, pipes etc. and supplies to the civilian and defense establishments of the governments.

Due to the change of government policy, all trade and international activities were nationalised between 1964 and 1969.

The Indian Connection of Goenka family managed to keep all their lines open with Indian by setting up the Indo Burma Trading Corporation, a daughter concern of the Bandoola Group, in 1959, Indo Burma is headquartered in Mumbai and has a branch at Madras. The primary purpose of the company was to cater to the ever-growing needs of the Bandoola Group in Myanmar for Indian goods. The company later started taking active part in Government tenders and thus the trade relations with Myanmar continued. The fourth generation of the Goenka family, set up Bandoola international trading and representing many multinational and Indian companies like Hindustan Lever, Cadbury’s, Bajaj Auto, Ponds, Colgate Palmolive, Bush Boake, Brooke Bond, Liption, Birla Tyres, Crompton Greaves, Standard Batteries, Reckitt & Coleman, TTK and many others and marketing their quality products.

The present family members are representatives of 3rd and 4th generation of The Goenka Family, Mr. Murarilal Goenka an Electrical Engineer, one of the six sons of Shri Satyanarayan Goenka – the founder Principal Teacher of Vipassana Research Institute situated at Igatpuri, near Nashik for conducting meditation. Shri Murarilal Goenka is handling business of Export to various countries. The other brother Shri Sriprakash Goenka handles import of pulses, Dates and other such agricultural commodities from other countries like USA, Canada, Myanmar, Dubai, Ethiopia, Pakistan, Tanzania, Turkey etc.

Mr. Sriprakash Goenka was an importer of Plastic granules from 1978 to 1989 and diversified into import of Pulses since then.

We are a group of companies running a joint family business and we have our offices in India and Myanmar.

In Bombay, our company U Goenka Sons Pvt. Our office in Bombay i.e. Red Apple Travel India Ltd. is looking after Tours and Travel business. Our other office i.e. UGS International is looking after exports of chemicals and pharmaceutical raw materials and other items; mainly for Myanmar Government Tenders. One of our branches is handling export of Garments. As an effort to diversify our business in to the area of other products, we established "Lok Enterprises" in Bombay to carry out activities in the field of Computer products. 

In Myanmar (Burma), our family is there since 1877. Our offices Bandoola Myanmar Ltd. and Bandoola International Ltd. are having three Processing Mills there. We process the pulses and export it to Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Dubai and UK and sometimes to India. We also import medicine and all types of general products and handle Burmese Government tenders. We export rough and finished ruby to India from there. We are also GSA for Indian airlines at Myanmar. Our Myanmar office's Turn Over is more than US$ 30 Million

A SOLID FOUNDATION 

In 1879, Basesarlal Goenka, Left his native Rajasthan, the land of golden sands to seek new pastures in the land of Golden Pagodas- Burma – the present day Myanmar. It was in the Royal Capital Mandalay that he established the firm Basesarlal Dwarkadas dealing in Textiles. 

His son expanded the business and a rice mill was set up at Myitkyina in Upper Burma. The firm also acquired a Burmese name – Kopya Babu Taik, and the business flourished till the beginning of World War II.

After the war, the great founder’s grandson shifted their headquarters to the capital Rangoon – presently known as Yangon, while the set up at Mandalay become a branch office. 

BORN TO LEAD

Under the visionary zeal of U.S.N. Goenka the firm diversified into many activities like, General Imports and Exports, Indenters,. Builders, Government Contractors and suppliers. Bandoola Group was formed with the establishment of many new companies.. the Bandoola Group was also involved in agricultural activities. 

All the business and industries were nationalized by the Revolutionary Government of Burma between 1964 and 1969. 

A GREAT NEW BEGINNING

A great boost for the Goenka Family cam when the Government of Myanmar announced its Open Door Policy in 1989. That is when the great Grandsons of Basesarlal Goenka, the fourth generation of the Goenka family, set up Bandoola International Limited, in 1990 which is engaged in international trading activities with ambitious plans to soon start manufacturing activities in various sectors. 

The Company has grown phenomenally since its inception and the annual turnover in 1993-94 is expected to cross 400 million Kyats. Today the company employs a staff over 100 people for its administrative and marketing activities. 

To export value added agricultural products, Bandoola has setup a cleaning, sorting and polishing plant – the first of its kind in Myanmar – to supply cleaned and polished pulses, beans and oilseeds for export to affluent countries, to earn Myanmar valuable foreign exchange.
